Frequently Asked Questions

How is our existing data protected during migration?

Before we start, we take a full backup of the database and the files/ and public/ folders. The work is tested on staging first, then checked against a list: articles, galleys, user accounts, and review history. A rollback plan is always ready, and errors caused by our work are fixed free for 30 days.

Our OJS must stay on our institution’s server. Can you still help?

Yes. All project work (installation, upgrades, themes, setup) can be done directly on your server. For ongoing care, there’s an annual Maintenance plan — no need to move your journal.

Can we use our university’s domain?

Yes. Your DNS administrator points the journal subdomain (e.g. journal.university.edu) to our server. We then install a Let's Encrypt SSL certificate for it.

Does Jurnal Space guarantee accreditation or indexing?

No. Accreditation and indexing decisions rest with each evaluating body and indexer. We handle the technical and design side so your journal runs reliably and looks professional.

Is DOI active as soon as the plugin is installed?

DOIs require a Crossref membership in your journal’s or institution’s name (directly or via a sponsor). Once you have a prefix and deposit account, we install and configure the DOI plugin and Crossref deposits in OJS.

What’s the difference between the CSS Theme and the Full Theme?

The CSS Theme restyles the default OJS theme (colors, typography, header, and more), so it’s light and upgrade-safe. The Full Theme is standalone with its own templates, so page layouts can be redesigned too. Because all templates are custom, the Full Theme needs adjusting whenever OJS moves to a new major version, billed separately.

Our journal site was injected with gambling spam. Can you clean it?

Yes, with our Malware Cleanup service. We scan files and the database, remove injected code and pages, patch the hole used to get in, and rotate credentials. We don’t promise a site will stay safe forever, since new vulnerabilities can appear. The 30-day warranty covers reinfection through holes we patched. Spam pages already indexed by Google may take a while to drop out of search results.

Can our theme be used for another journal?

Each theme is created and licensed for one journal. If your institution wants to use it for another journal, an extra license is available at 50% of the theme price, including identity adjustments for that journal.
